Better Boards Conference 2010 – Round Up



The 5th Australasian Better Boards Conference, held at The Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach in July of this year, was a highly engaging and successful event with delegates from across Australia and New Zealand filling the venue to capacity.


Thirty speakers offered their valuable knowledge and insights on fundamental topics which included practical tips, tools and discussions around governance, leadership, legal matters, sustainability, risk management, strategic planning, project management, nonprofit research and their applications within nonprofit organisations.


Highlights from the event included the Productivity Commission report from Robert Fitzgerald AM, the extension of the conference to include CEOs day on Friday (with tickets to CEOs Day selling out almost 1 month prior), Jack Siegel – Charity Governance expert from the U.S.A, a deliciously humorous yet serious legal panel, a highly practical leadership exercise in change management by Marion Stanway, and The Three Waiters who surprised and delighted the dinner attendees with their wonderful vocal talent.


The feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the 6th Australasian Better Boards Conference to be held in 2012 in Melbourne. Although if you can’t wait until 2012 you can always book a place at one of the Better Boards Master Classes to be held throughout Australia and New Zealand in 2011.


We are also excited to be able to inform you that through the speaker and feedback donation program at this year’s conference, we were able to raise $2,000 to go towards important research being carried out by the Desert Ecology Group. The Better Boards Conference and Australian Strategic Services contributed to this to bring the total donation to $5,000.
