Better Boards Conference 2012: Sunday Recap

Sunday was the final day of the 6th Australasian Better Boards Conference and it was yet another action-packed day with two keynote presentations, 10 concurrent sessions to choose from and a highly engaging panel session. Our keynote speakers for Sunday were Claire Braund and Tim Costello, both of whom are well-respected speakers in their area of expertise. Both presenters were highlights for many delegates and successfully rounded out the proceedings for the day and the Better Boards Conference program for the year.

One of the themes of interest to board members that has emerged from the conference has been the challenge for board members of ascertaining the most effective way of directing their particular organisation and the difficultly of keeping within the boundaries of a governance role. New regulations relating to the sector, especially those that are part of the construction of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission were another hot topic. The ACNC was represented by two of our speakers, David Locke and Murray Baird and both presenters stimulated a lot of interest and engagement from delegates.

Better Boards would like to thank delegates, speakers and sponsors for not only attending the conference, but contributing to a successful event. We sincerely hope you have found the experience enriching and that you have made some valuable contacts through your interaction with other delegates during sessions and breaks throughout the weekend. We look forward to seeing many of you again at future events.
