Better Boards Provides Submission on ACNC Repeal

Better Boards Australasia has made a submission to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee regarding the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (Repeal) (No. 1) Bill 2014. Better Boards’ submission was released by the Committee on Monday the 5th of May, 2014.

This submission, made on the 29th of April, 2014 joins a growing list of other submissions in criticising the repeal and disestablishment of the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.

Below is an excerpt from the submission:

Better Boards supports the ACNC’s object to “maintain, protect and enhance public trust and confidence in the sector through increased accountability and transparency”. It is our belief that this can be brought about through encouraging and supporting best practice in non-profit governance as well as by investigating complaints or concerns. In non-profit organisations of all sizes and pursuits, excellent governance practices and skilled directors serve non-profit organisations by driving growth, innovation and superior outcomes. Excellent governance practices involve upholding standards of accountability and transparency.
