Conference and COVID-19 Response

We have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, and have been considering what response may be in the best interests of those involved in all aspects of the Better Boards Conference 2020. While there are still many unknowns, there is now greater clarity around the magnitude of the disruption and the level of preventative measures required.

 

The Better Boards Conference is an important professional development exercise for a large number of NFP leaders, and a responsible decision is required to deliver information, and to protect attendees (and subsequently their organisations) from the potential transmission of COVID-19.

 

Rather than cancel the event and leave an information gap at a critical time of the year, we will reboot our current program into a digital format that provides knowledge and support to all attendees in whichever location they choose to socially distance or self isolate in.

 

We deeply believe this the right thing to do, and here is why:

 

  • For more than a decade the Better Boards Conference has been an immensely valuable source of learning for many directors and executives in the not-for-profit sector.
  •  

  • To cancel the Conference would remove this resource at a time when directors and executives of not-for-profit organisations most need support, knowledge, ideas and perhaps most importantly community – all are factors that may be the difference between an organisation folding or riding out this current crisis.
  •  

  • Better Boards is well positioned to run a unique, large scale digital conference. For almost a decade we have developed deep internal technology capabilities and knowledge which we will draw on to produce a digital event that is genuinely a cut above the rest.

The Better Boards Conference 2020 will run as The Better Boards Conference 2020 (Digital Edition). It will not be held in Manly, but rather we will bring it to you – you’ll get to participate, whether it is in your boardroom, living room or bedroom. Digital infrastructure is better than it has ever been, and the team here at Better Boards is super excited by the possibilities it offers.
