Post-election Opportunities: Aligning Your Priorities With Government Agendas

Jo Scard

Founder and CEO, Fifty Acres

As the Founder and CEO, Jo leads the team at Fifty Acres and is involved with all projects. She offers 20 years’ experience in communications and a wealth of knowledge in public relations and project management.

Standing as one of Australia’s most highly sought-after strategic advisors, Jo has a proven reputation in the field across corporate and political advisory and journalism.

A trained lawyer and respected former journalist in the UK and Australia, Jo has worked with ITV, Associated Press, Seven Network, SBS, ABC and Fairfax, and previously acted as a senior adviser in the Rudd and Gillard governments as well as the British Labour Party. Jo recently completed her Masters in Creative Writing, and is also a founding board member of the global Public Relations & Communications Association APAC Chapter.

Jo started Fifty Acres in 2010 because she wanted to create an agency motivated by strong values and work in the for-purpose sectors, in addition to supporting flexible work. Since then, Fifty Acres has grown into one of Australia’s leading completely remote, full-service communications agencies.

Join Jo Scard, CEO and Founder of Fifty Acres, for a strategic session on navigating the post-election period to maximise impact for your organisation. With the next Australian federal election expected in March or April 2025, this session will offer a deep dive into the art of aligning your advocacy and media strategies with the priorities of the new government.

Learn how to strategically schedule meetings and site visits with MPs, Senators, and newly elected representatives who champion your cause.

Understand how to craft emotionally engaging stories highlighting your organisation’s achievements, aligning them with national campaign themes like resilience, sustainability, or innovation. Explore strategies for securing local and national media coverage to amplify your message.

Gain insights into collaborating with like-minded organisations to enhance visibility and influence. From joint campaigns to open letters, discover how partnerships can be a game-changer in amplifying your voice.

Jo will also provide advice on effectively mapping your priorities to a government agenda, ensuring your organisation is poised to seize opportunities in a rapidly changing political and media landscape. This timely session is designed to help your organisation align its priorities with the government agenda and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
