Superhuman Leaders - How is Your Superpower Helping (or Hindering) You?

Sarah Norman

Director, The Futures Practice

Sarah is an internationally experienced strategic innovator, having been a gamechanger for over 25 years.

As a Director of The Futures Practice, Sarah is working towards creating a thriving future for all.

From growing up in tropical north Queensland (she has no fear of snakes or spiders), Sarah moved into urban and regional planning in the public and private sector.

Seeking international experience, Sarah studied and worked in the United Kingdom, leading teams in transport policy and program management and delivery.

On returning to Brisbane, advisory and program management and governance roles evolved into leading strategy and innovation programs.

Within the Queensland State government, Sarah crafted visions, led multi-disciplinary teams, consulted on and implemented strategy and sparked new collaborations.

Founding the Strategic Futures community, with over 600 members from across Queensland, was a key achievement for Sarah, and remains close to her heart. She is in awe of the good humans can achieve when they connect and collaborate.

With a background in business, strategy, futures, governance and innovation, she has worked with teams to delve into workplace culture. Sarah has also been called on to speak at conferences and podcasts on how to effect positive lasting change.

arah is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, holds a Graduate Certificate in Management, Master of Urban and Regional Planning and Bachelor of Arts. She is a Prince2 practitioner, MSP® certified, Prosci® Change practitioner, and a Lego® SeriousPlay® methodology afficionado. As a current Board Director, she values being able to draw upon the depth and breadth of experience her portfolio career has provided.

Sarah remains curious at heart and encourages everyone to experiment and have fun. She enjoys untamed exploring. Her family is forever grateful for the ‘find me’ function on her iphone.

Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is key to high level executive function. But how many of us really understand what makes us tick, and are comfortable sharing this with our board colleagues?

The Futures Practice uses Lego Serious Play to delve into board dynamics, to uncover how to best work together, leveraging the passion and expertise of board members, to focus ‘superpowers’ where they are most needed.
