With a focus on consumer directed care (CDC) in home care and a call for CDC in residential care, will this affect the way you manage clinical governance? To what extent does the board need to be aware of clinical risk management and what particular areas of clinical care should the board be aware of? Traditionally boards have had a significant focus on financial management and strategic direction.

Board Perspectives: Key Skills for Making Constructive Contributions

Board effectiveness and competency are influenced by a great many factors. Arguably a critical factor is the skills held by board members and how these are used in concert to strengthen both the board and the organisation. To get to the bottom of what key skills should be required of all board members in order to contribute effectively in the boardroom, we put the word out to our network. The first in a series of seminars exploring the emerging and crucially important role non-profits play in regional, community and economic development, this event was a must attend for senior leaders (CEOs, board members and senior management teams) of non-profit organisations. Chaired by one of Australia’s pre-eminent experts on non-profit organisations, Michael Goldsworthy, this panel discussion explored key strategic insights and new strategies that boards, chief executive officers and senior management teams should consider as part of their organisation’s strategic direction.
